Dubai Club for Chess and CultureFoundation:
Established in 1979 and announcedin 1981
It is the largest modern specialized Chess Club in the world

Club facilities:
Sheikh Said Bin Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Hall, which is considered as the largest Chess Hall in a chess club, it can accommodate more than 240 players simultaneously.

  • Changing rooms equipped with modern high equipments to meet the game’s requirements, computer hardware and software.
  • Girls Chess Club, which opened in 2000 with female management, and supervised by professional female trainers with an international level
  • Sheikha Latifa Bint Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s Hall

Accomplishments:
The most important achievements of the club at the international, continental and Arab world level:

  • The Club and UAE star, Saeed Ahmad Saeed, won the under 14 World Championship, held in Mexico in 1985.
  • Saeed Ahmed Saeed was third in the under 16 World Championship (Gold Pawn Trophy) held in Argentina in 1983. 
  • Again, Saeed Ahmad Saeed was third in the World Junior Championship (under 20) held in France, in 1983.
  • The club team, representing the UAE, secured the first place in the Gulf and Arab Peninsula Team Championship, 1983.  
  • The Dubai Club’s player, Adel Jassem Balrumaithah, came first in the Gulf and Arab Peninsula Individual Championship (under 16) held in Qatar in 1985.
  • The two brothers, Nasser Ahmad Saeed and Saeed Ahmad Saeed, shared first place in the Arab Men Championship held in Dubai, in 1985.
  • Mansour Abdullah, of the Dubai Club, won the bronze medal in the under 16 Asian Championship held in Dubai, in 1978.
  • Mansour Abdullah won the under 16 Arab Individual Championship held in Sharjah, in 1978.
  • Mansour Abdullah and Najeeb Saleh, both of the Dubai Chess Club, shared the first place in the Arab Junior Championship (under 20) held in Baghdad in 1988.
  • Mansour Abdullah came first in the Arab Junior Championship (under 20) held in Doha, in 1989.
  • Mohammed Abdul Raheem won the under 14 Arab Championship (Doha), 1994.
  • Taleb Mousa Abdullah won the Arab Junior Championship (under 20), Abu Dhabi 1995.
  • Osman Mousa Abdullah secured the silver medal in the First Arab Zone Championship, Doha -1997.
  • Taleb Mousa Abdullah won the Credit Suisse Masters Tournament held in Cannes - France in 1997.
  • Yehya Mohammed Saleh took the silver medal in the Arab under 10 years old championship, Cairo - 1999.
  • The Club Team won the bronze medal in the Arab Clubs Championship, Cairo - 1999.

The most important achievements at the local level:

  • Osman Mousa won His Highness the UAE President’s Cup in 1994, 1997 and 1998, while Nabil Mohamed Saleh won it in 1996. 
  • Out of 17 times in which these two tournaments were held, the Dubai Club’s players won 16 times each of the UAE Men Individual Championship and the UAE Teams Championship!
  • Winning the under 20 Team Championship which was held only once in 1996.
  • Winning 4 times the UAE under 16 Team Championship and 3 times the UAE under 16 Individual Championship.  
  • Winning 7 times the under 14 Team Championship and 8 times the under 14 Individual Championship. 
  • Winning 3 times the under 12 UAE Team Championship and 1 time the under 12 Championship. 
  • Winning 2 times the UAE under 10 Championship.
